End of week one. Today I went to El Pollo Loco at Sunrise and Coloma. Previous to this blog I didn’t go out to salads that much, but when I did this was one of three places I frequented (the others being Habit and Panera). I arrived at 11:12. They were grilling up a ton of chicken to get ready for the lunch rush, but for the moment it was pretty quiet.
I ordered my usual, the Ultimate Double Tostada Salad (double potion of chicken or carne asada with avocado, rice, pinto beans, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream in a tostada shell) [$6.99]. This is a monster salad that is nearly 1500 calories when you include the creamy cilantro dressing and the tostada shell itself. It definitely keeps me full for a while. It took about 4 minutes and they called my name from the counter when it was ready.
It was as delicious as usual. The chicken was freshly grilled, still hot and juicy. The avocado was ripe and the tostada shell crisp and buttery. As much as I hate cilantro, the dressing doesn’t have a strong cilantro taste to it. Not much more to say here. I’ve never ordered anything other than salads at El Pollo Loco and they’re solid as always. See you Monday!
